OpenSim Fundamentals

This is my avatar using text chat.  This is done by hitting the voice balloon button at the lower right and typing in the white bar.  This is one way for users to communicate in Rocket World

Another way to communicate is through Local Chat.  Hitting the "Communicate" button will bring up the window which has a more IM-style interface.  This is another form of communication in Rocket World

Within the Local Chat, users can add web page addresses for others to click on.  Then users have the option of opening the page inside Rocket World or opening the page in their browser.  This is another feature in Rocket World

One's camera angle can also be manipulated.  In the above shots, I have zoomed out from my avatar.  This gives users the ability to see even more (or less) of Rocket World

This is an image of my avatar looking upward.  This is accomplished by clicking and holding the avatar's back and moving the mouse around.  This allows one to explore the sky of Rocket World

Besides walking, users can also fly in the virtual world.  This allows for much faster travel than walking.  This is probably my favorite feature of Rocket World

In order to ease navigation, users can change the size and focus of their mini-map.  This features allows users to focus closely or pull back from particular sections or region.  The default map shows almost all of Rocket World so the ability to focus is helpful.

While in the virtual world, users can make friends with other avatars.  This will add them to a user's contact list.  Users then gain the ability to know when their friends are online and allows the possibility to teleport them to a different section of Rocket World

Another movement option is teleportation.  If a friend in a user's list is elsewhere, the user can bring them to their current location by selecting their name from the Contacs list and clicking teleport.  If that friend accepts, they will be teleported to the same section of Rocket World
